The department has an active seminar culture and strong international engagement. Currently, we host four regular seminar series in:

In addition, we co-organize with other institutions in Chile yearly international workshops that bring together leading scholars and policymakers.

Our faculty have access to a variety of sources of funding to support conference and workshop participation abroad, data and software acquisition, research assistance, and other research-related expenses. In addition to internal departmental funds, our faculty members can access a variety of external funding sources. More than half of our faculty currently hold active grants from government agencies and international institutions.
The Department serves a large and diverse student body, with over 2000 undergraduate and over 100 graduate enrolled students. Our graduate offerings include two Master’s programs (M.S. in Economics and M.S. in Applied Economics) and a Ph.D. program in Economics, which attract top students from Chile and abroad.
