Paper: The demand for integers; revealed preference with partially-observed choice sets

Abstract: ‘Scanner’ data are replacing traditional consumption surveys. However, they present a number of challenges which current methods can’t easily deal with: multivariate integer-valued demands, partially observed choice sets, many corner/edge solutions and high dimensionality. This paper (which is work-in-progress) may have found a way forward using some old ideas from duality theory and some new results from revealed preference theory. It presents an application to the measurement of inflation.
